Need help to manage your NDIS plan?
The NDIS is here
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is rolling out across Australia. And it's arrived in Lismore, Ballina, Richmond Valley, Kyogle, Byron, Tweed & Clarence Valley in Northern NSW. It started on 1 July 2017.
The scheme is run by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). That's the agency that holds the funding for supports. Also it employs the Local Area Co-ordinators and other staff who manage the scheme.
About the NDIS
The NDIS provides support for people with a disability, their families and carers. It's an insurance scheme that helps people who live with disability build skills and capability that will improve their lives. It can help a person with disability:
- Access mainstream services and supports like health, education, public housing and aged care.
- Access community services and supports such as activities and services in the community.
- Maintain informal support arrangements with family and friends who don't get paid for the support they offer.
- Receive reasonable and necessary funded supports related to a person's disability so they can live an ordinary life and achieve their goals.
